Maximum safety for first responders

You focus on what matters: Putting out brush fires and saving lives. Your Airpower® XR1 does double duty keeping you safe while out on the front lines.

Maximum protection dual certified for EMS and wildland firefighting

Your health is priority. The Airpower® XR1 offers all-around protection for your feet, because it is puncture resistant, protects your toes, and protects you from the dangerous fluids you come in contact with on the job. It is a dual certified EMS and wildland firefighting boot ready for service.

Protect your toes with our composite toe cap

The integrity of your feet, and especially your toes, is important. The Airpower XR1 is equipped with composite toe caps that are lighter weight yet still keep your toes protected to the highest safety requirements. It helps reduce foot and leg fatigue from long hours on the job.

Keep yourself safe from dangerous fluids thanks to CROSSTECH® technology

Your job can expose you to hazardous situations. The CROSSTECH® technology in the Airpower XR1's inner lining ensures your boots are waterproof while also protecting you from potentially dangerous fluids such as blood, bodily fluids, and chemicals. Your feet stay dry, and you stay safe.

Keep your footing with HAIX® protective sole

With the Airpower XR1 slip-resistant sole, you can walk and run with confidence. The integrated safety sole won't melt on hot pavement or disintegrate from oil, fuels, and chemical exposures at accident scenes. As an added feature, the sole is EH-rated as well.

Comfort to endure the longest hours

You spend long hours on your feet. We make sure it doesn't feel like it.

Comfort fit with HAIX® cushioned insole

HAIX insoles keep your feet and your shoes fresher and more comfortable on the job. Our insoles absorb perspiration to keep your feet dry even in the most rigorous conditions. Added cushioning provides extra comfort. The microfiber design is lightweight, breathable, and machine washable. Replace occasionally to keep your shoes fresh and comfortable.

Needed support for your feet with the HAIX® Arch Support System

You can perform your job duties better and with more stability with the Airpower XR1. The built in arch support relieves stress on your feet by distributing weight more evenly. Walk without pain, improve your general well being, and increase your ability to perform without the distraction of foot and leg pain.

Quick in and out zipper lacing system

When seconds matter, you can rely on the zipper lacing system in our Airpower XR1 to give you a more personalized fit while ensuring you can rush out to the next call without the hassle of lacing up. When your boots arrive, adjust the lacing for a personalized fit just for you. Then enjoy that fit every time, every day. Slip on, zip up, and go.

Breathable comfort with HAIX® Climate System

The Airpower XR1 ensures your feet stay dry and comfortable by utilizing special foams that absorb moisture from your feet between the inner lining and the leather. With each step, moist air expels, and fresh air enters through the vent holes at the top of the boot. This Climate System functions like an air conditioning system for your feet.

Your questions, our honest answers

Yes, you can buy replacement parts for the Airpower XR1 such as insoles, laces, and zippers. You can find these items on our website on the accessories page. If you are looking to retread or refurbish your Airpower XR1 boots, check out the HAIX Extended Wear program page.

Yes, your boot fit can be adjusted on the Airpower XR1 by tightening or loosening the laces on either side of the zipper mechanisim. For a slightly more individualized fit, boots can be adjusted with an alternate insole. A blue insole for a narrower fit (thickest), a yellow insole for a wider fit (thinnest). Extra insoles can be purchased on the accessories page.

Yes, the front lacing zipper system of the Airpower XR1 allows the individual user to adjust the fit to their own personal needs, offering more ankle support as needed, or possibly offering a looser fit in the lower leg for larger calves. Boots should be adjusted to your preference when they are received, then just zip in or out from then on. A second adjustment to the lacing may be needed after the boots have gone through their initial break in period.

The Airpower® XR2 and Airpower® R2 are certified to NFPA 1999 for emergency medical operations while the Airpower® XR1 is certified to both NFPA 1999 and NFPA 1977 for Wildland Firefighting. The Airpower® XR2 and Airpower R2 are both 8" in height while the Airpower® XR1 is 9" in height. Both the Airpower® XR1 and XR2 are composite toe with non-metallic puncture plates while the Airpower® R2 has a steel toe and steel puncture plate. The Airpower® R2 differs from the other 2 models in that it has a leather toe that is polishable. Since the Airpower® XR2 and XR1 are so similar, the Airpower® XR1 has a red NFPA 1977 label on the left boot.

With the CROSSTECH inner liner, the Airpower XR1 does offer protection from liquids, chemicals, and bloodborne pathogens. The boots are tested and certified according to NFPA 1999 standards for biopenetration.

The Airpower XR1 runs similar in size to your athletic shoe size, but because of the built in arch support, they do run on the narrow side. The Airpower XR1 comes in medium, wide, and extra wide widths. It is recommended that you order one width larger than your usual width. For example, most people who normally wear a medium, would wear a wide in this boot.

These boots hold up against the competition and keep me safe on my feet.
While I’ve worn a lot of brand boots from many high end outlets that claim their boot is the best, I can tell you I am overly impressed with these boots. They are durable, very very quality and HAIX customer service is prompt and courteous. I don’t think actually I know I’ll never buy another brand other than HAIX. This is your boot for the serious professional. They look good feel good and well it’s just GREAT!!I absolutely love my Haix Airpower XR1s. Because they felt comfortable since day one. Im a pipefitter/welder and I'm always on my feet. (Ladders, dirt, water, slippery floors) I work from 8 to 16 hours....walking, pulling, carrying and I have to say these are very comfortable for me. All my shoes I wear size 9. These boots do run big, like previous reviews say. I did order size 8.5M and I feel they fit perfect. I had to order the $300 because they didnt have the $240...and I needed them asap. So, Im happy. Thanks. **question.....o was checking out the details on the boots and I rised one eyebrow .....why the 2cent zip ties?

I emailed HAIX customer service to ask about sizing due to the many (many, many) reviews stating some issues with the boots running large. I took their advice and ordered half a size down (an 8 where I normally wear an 8.5 in boots and athletic shoes). At first, I thought they might be too big. However, I took the soles out to check the little zone illustrated the at the toe, and it seems like they fit with enough room for the January socks or swelling of Hour #22. To make them nice and snug, I yarded down on the laces in the ankle area. The result is perfect-feeling shoes! As a bonus, the heels don’t budge, which is rare for me as I usually have to use special lacing for athletic shoes to prevent heels slipping. The boots have also taken some knocks and puddles, all while keeping my feet safe, warm, and dry. I recommend these boots at half a size down, and a good 30+ minutes tinkering with the lacing before deciding on your verdict!

I have had these boots for the past four years. I give the comfort level a 5/5 right out of the box, all the way until four years later. As for durability, I give them a 4.5 - 5. I am a firefighter/paramedic and these boots go everywhere. They have been great for wildland firefighting, EMS calls and general station use. The boots are sturdy and look great. The only reason and I did not give them a 5/5 for durability is a minor flaw. About three years into using them, one shoe lace broke and soon after, the other one did. This is not surprising since I have been wearing them for so long and have been generally rough on them. Occasionally the leather lining gets caught it the zipper, making it difficult to unzip. Overall, I am so happy with my boots! I am forever a customer.

I took the time to read the comments and took some of the sizing issues into consideration. I wear a 9 1/2-10 in woman's in almost all of my boots. This is my first time ordering a women's boot, so I ordered a 9 just to be safe. They are indeed too big. I have never ever worn a size in 8's. I have large feet, Haix your boot sizes are off. You need to reach out and do a little more fact gathering. Listen to the advice of the comments and order at least a size smaller.

Best money can buy

I was a bit apprehensive about buying these boots. Large investment and was not sure if I would like them. I took a leap of faith and I am so glad I did. I’ve gone through many work boots and these by far are the most comfortable and functional I have ever owned. I bought a half size smaller and they fit perfect. Really happy with them and highly recommend for the fence sitters. I figure for the longevity the cost is right on point.

Great Boot

I bought these boots on the recommendation from a FF/EMT who swears by them (and has had the same pair they bought years ago and they are still going strong). I have only worn them for a couple of shifts, but so far I am really impressed! These boots are solid, comfortable, and easy to put on/take off. I did end up ordering 1/2 size down from my normal shoe size, and they fit great! They were comfortable out of the box, but have only gotten more comfortable with each wear. I look forward to seeing how they hold up over the long run.

Good fit and great for outdoor activity

Got these boots two years ago give or take, I work as a full time EMT and volunteer firefighter in a rural area. These boots have seen just about everything and I couldn't be more happy with the product. The fit was perfect after breaking them in, little uncomfortable before then but that's not unusual. I have been able to wear them for endless hours without pain, bruising, swelling, etc since the breaking in. Between the Composite Toe and 9" height these have been feet saviors, protecting against smashed toes and ankle twists by walking through debris in the woods, fields, and feet of snow. The waterproof technology has also been outstanding and I have never, not once, had an issue with water or other fluids getting inside the boot. They have also been fairly easy to clean after emergency calls. One of the few possible issues I can see with these boots are that they are starting to become discolored from wear and tear, BUT I have also NEVER polished or taken any extra care of these boots and they are two years old. The zip tie that holds the zipper piece in place has popped off a few times but again wear and tear is expected and it's simple enough to toss a new zip tie on. Overall since they've been broken in I have been in love with these and would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a comfortable and reliable pair of boots or expecting a decent amount of outdoor work. PS: These have also been through a motorcycle collision with me and are still in good condition for what that's worth. Probably saved my ankle.

Great boots, just watch out for sizing -- order at least one size DOWN

As the title suggests, these boots are extremely good quality, very comfortable and can take a beating while maintaining structural integrity. Overall excellent product, I've been recommending these to everyone at work. However, the sizing put me through a bit of a hectic loop. I typically wear a size 7 (in all shoes, regardless of type i.e. heels, running shoes, flats etc) and assumed these boots would fit the same. Unfortunately the day I received my size 7 XR1's (yes, I ordered the women's XR1's), I was shocked at how large they were... my toes weren't even close to the toe caps and my heels kept slipping up the back. I've now ordered 4 different pairs, and found that a size 5.5 (in WOMEN'S) was what fit the best. I'm now out around $700, waiting for the returns to be processed from the three pairs of boots I had to ship back (sizes 7, 6.5, 6). This review will hopefully run as a public service announcement; if you order from Haix, make sure you order AT LEAST one size down. Perhaps even order two sets (1 size down, 1.5 sizes down) just to be on the safe side, and just return the pair that don't fit. I had a hell of a time sleuthing through forums to realize that no, my feet did not shrink 1.5 inches overnight, these boots just run big. Even if you order the women's version. Feedback for Haix, PLEASE start to include Haix boot-sizing images (pdf maybe?) that people can print out at home and measure their feet against so they don't have to go through nearly $1,000 worth of boots to ensure they're ordering the correct size. You guys sell such fantastic boots that there should be tools in place for people to get the most out of what they've ordered the first time around!! Would save your customers lots of time and money.

Bruising my leg

This is the second pair of these boots. The first pair was excellent and I wore them out. I'm having a hard time with this second pair. I cannot get the lower portion of the boot tight enough so my foot doesn't slip, resulting in blisters. I cannot get the top portion of the boot loose enough to stop bruising my calf. I hope they break in soon or I will have to buy a different boot - and after spending $300.00 - that's a tough price to pay.
