Extend the Life of your HAIX® Boots

Are your favorite HAIX® boots showing signs of wear? Could they use a new sole, fresh laces, or a thorough cleaning and polish? Perhaps your warranty has expired? The HAIX® Extended Wear Program offers a solution to breathe new life into your beloved boots, restoring them to near-new condition. This refurbishment process not only revitalizes your boots but also preserves their comfort and fit — boots that have been molded to your feet over time.

When to Refurbish or Replace Your Boots

Not all boots can be refurbished. In some cases, replacement is necessary. Use the tips below to assess your boots and decide the best course of action.

Regular Boot Inspections for Safety and Longevity

The lifespan of your boots depends on factors such as your work environment, hazards, frequency of use, age of boots, and your physical attributes. Regular inspections and routine cleaning can help extend their life and ensure your safety.

What to Check During an Inspection:

  • Cuts, tears, punctures, burns or worn threading
  • Condition of eyelets, laces, and straps (tears, frays, or rips)
  • Inner liner for tears, holes, or excessive wear
  • Loss of water resistance or seam integrity
  • Damaged, exposed, dented, or deformed toe cap in safety toe boots
  • Worn-down tread or sole separation
  • Zipper functionality (if applicable)

If you identify only minor wear and tear, the HAIX® Extended Wear Program might be the right option, offering services like sole retreading and general refurbishment.

To Refurb or Replace, that is the Question

The steps below will help you determine if your boots can be refurbished or if it is time to replace your boots.

What Can Be Repaired

  • Seam separations or broken stitches (if the leather is intact)
  • Missing eyelets, hooks, or broken zippers
  • Outer rubber toe cap

What Cannot Be Repaired

  • Low or absent tread or sole separation
  • Sole disintegration
  • Tears or cracks in the leather
  • Damaged safety toe caps (especially after a heavy impact)
  • Steel or composite top caps
  • Compromised inner liner, especially with leakage or exposure to hazardous chemicals
  • Cuts or punctures that compromise the inner liner reducing its protective function

Important Note

Certain models, including boots with Vibram® soles or older Black Eagle® models may not qualify for retreading. Contact HAIX Customer Service at service-hna@haix.com for clarification.

Understanding the Retreading Process

For boots eligible for retreading, there must be tread left for adhesion of the new sole. Low tread increases slip risks, so timely repair is crucial.

  1. Existing tread is buffed away.
  2. A new HAIX® tread is applied and securely bonded.
  3. The boots retain their original tread pattern with all associated features.
