The good: The fit is true to size and it looks sharp. The lace lock mechanism at the ankle is nice and perfectly holds the tension of the laces. The air flow system is what I have come to expect based on other boots I have bought from Haix. The traction is better than I expected, so that was a nice surprise. No complaints there. The adequate: The laces are REALLY long. After tying the boot, the laces still almost come up to my knee. I'm 5'08". There is no letting them hang. They need to be tucked, or you will need to get shorter laces. Not a big deal. The material is not as "soft" as the "all leather" boots and does require time to break in. I haven't found them to be quite as comfortable as the Black Eagle Tactical 2.0 GTX High or the Black Eagle Tactical 2.0 GTX Low, yet. I've only had them for less than a month so I don't know how well it will break in. With all that said, this is more of a basic boot and not the exceptional comfort I have come to love with Haix. It's too bad they don't have more options in the coyote or desert brown in other styles.

Had these for a month now, absolutely love them. Fast to put on and and lace thanks to the locking loops keeping the bottom half of the laces tensioned, very comfortable to wear most of the day either walking or sitting at the office. And of course as a size 15wide its always a pleasure to find a company offering quality products in my size, great to finally have a well fitting quality boot.

These are good quality and comfortable. I appreciate the mid ankle locking eyelets! A bit of a process to put on and take off but so comfortable and worth it!

Very comfortable

I bought this on clearance. They are very comfortable to wear and I hope they are not being discontinued and if they are, that they are replaced with a similar but improved boot. I have not had these long but have worn them on long days.

Eh

The Shoe was not quite what I expected for the money it costs. I have yet to try it hiking until the shoe is properly broken in. I will be trying it at work over the next couple of months to see how it performs.

Excellent boots! It is very hard to find size 12.5 extra wide boots. They are also very comfortable and easily accomodate insoles. I've just ordered my second pair.

Best so far

My husband has long narrow feet that are hard to find boots for. He says these are the best things he's ever worn. Only thing that would make them better is if they were water proof!

There’s nothing to compare it to.

Have Soldiered in numerous brands over the last 15 years. These boots are simply better. The ease of putting them on/off. The comfort. The fit. The support. The breathability. They have no equal. Would also add they block cold Fort Drum winds better than some goretex boots.

Excellent

These boots are excellent! Female in the forces here! I got small feet and it's hard to find nice boots that last! These one are doing the job great! The laces are super long and can be wrapped around your ankles easily. Fantastic support and no pain breaking them in! They aren't as light as the zipper Haix that I previously owned but they are more rugged and what I use in the field! I am not giving them a 10 simply because the sizing is indeed a tiny bit bigger than the athletic model but it was not half a size as mentioned. I would pick a full size different next time to make more room for double socks!

Nice Boots!

Very comfortable, good ankle support, and traction in a variety of conditions. I really appreciate that their boots come in wide sizes, which means I don’t have to go a half size up. Also love the breathability. My only complaint is the lacing system requires a little more effort than my previous boots.

Great fit and service

I first ordered size 10.5 per the sizing instructions. There was a good amount of excess space in the toe box, so I sent them back and reordered the boots in a 10, my regular shoe size. They fit well and are flexibile. One thing I expected was that they don't drain water very well. I've since had a cobbler install some drain vents on each side. All in all, these are some solid boots.

Great Boots

Great set of boots, light weight, very comfortable, love them so far. 10/10 would recommend for anyone looking for a comfortable tactical boot. Size of the box confused me as I’m used to really big boots and boxes.

Excellent Boots

I am active duty Army. I have used MANY brands of boots and these are pretty much by and far the best pair of Military boots I have ever worn. They are relatively light in weight, provided excellent support (especially in the ankle area) and have proved to be very durable. They can also be resoled very cheaply. The way they fit, they simply just mold to the feet, there is absolutely no extra movement inside to cause any blisters. They are stiff laterally but still flex appropriately in the toes when walking so it feels very natural yet supportive. Highly suggest these boots to anyone in the Military or who needs a sturdy supportive boot.

Combat hero

I have every name brand boot to date and I have never taken the time to write a review so this is my first and for good reason. These are the absolute best boots I have ever owned. The comfort and support they provide is incredible and my feet never get too hot or too cold which is unheard of with such a breathable boot. I bought them for military use but I find myself wearing them for many other activities. I would recommend and have been to anyone in my fields.

Solid Ankle Support

The HAIX Combat Hero is a rugged, comfortable, and supportive boot. The shaft has structure that provides ankle support unlike other brands that just have floppy fabric in the shaft. Great boots, highly recommended !

Deployment approved, Amazing boots

When I first tried these on I thought, "wow there is almost TOO much ankle support." Now the ankle problems I use to have are a thing of the past. Rucked, deployed to Afghanistan, and put thousands of miles on them. Where other boots leave my feet feeling fatigued at the end of the day, these boots had my feet feeling fine. As far as AR-670-1, I have not had a single person say anything to me about them. They are starting to get pretty worn out and I should probably get another pair soon, but these just seem even more broken in and comfortable now. Just boots for the field now!

Great boots

The boots are amazing. You can feel airflow through them; arch support is comfortable. Would have rated perfect, but the box didn't come with spare laces. Given the price of the boot, they could at least supply spare laces designed for the boot. You never know when your laces are going break plus finding spare laces with a matching colour is not easy since they don't even supply a colour code or anything about the laces. Also, the laces are way too long. There's about 2 feet of lace on each side after tightening the boots. In a way, you're forced to buy your own laces for these boots, whether you need spares or ones that aren't ridiculously long.

Great boots

Bought these boots after some research of hardcore hiking/expedition boots, not disappointed with the results. Takes a couple weeks to truly break in but comfortable from the get go, these are the best feeling mil boots I've had/ they feel &fit like high end hiking/all weather boots capable of long term expeditions. Their look is great and sole is awesome as it doesn't allow rocks and such to affect your feet. Will buy again and especially if they offer reg cold weather boots

Best boots yet

hi: Moderator: please consider replacing my earlier review of these boots with this one. -- I bought two pairs of these in July 2020. The ones I'm wearing now have over 400 miles on them, about one third of that on fairly steep mountain trails. Here's what best about them: 1 - traction: whether on dry shale or snow covered grass, you've got grip. 2 - weight/comfort: they weigh next to nothing, they fit (but see below), and the height is right for me. 3 - solid arch support: you can't sneak around in these because the soles are so stiff, but your feet don't bleed or ache after a long hike - and that's a trade-off I'm happy with. Weirdly the single thing I like best about them is the two part lacing system. Take them off right and you can be outside, boots on, 30 seconds from bed. It looks flaky and the speed doesn't really matter for me, but it's nice and works. There are two things to worry about with them: 1 - they sponge up water like a paper diaper. Heavy dew = wet feet. Two cans of silicon spray later, however, and they look darker but my feet are warm and dry after 45 minutes pushing a snowblower through heavy wet snow just now. 2 - the right size is too big? My normal size is 13W (Cross-trainers are 14EEEE) but I found that these, while very comfortable under normal conditions, let my feet slide forward in the boot a bit on steep downhills - I lost both big toenails to this after a 2,300 foot descent in July. My 13M pair, on the other hand, seemed a little tight to begin with but now fit like I've worn them forever - and allow no internal slippage.

Best boots yet

New boots on a long hike usually mean bleeding feet but these didn't - maybe not really AR-670? They fit, they're extraordinarily light. and the traction is incredible. My get acquainted hike started in mud and ended on high dry rock with wet rocks and scree in between with no slippage anywhere. I'm probably buying a spare pair for five years from now.

Great boots

Best Army boots I have tried out so far. I wear a 9.0 Wide in standard issue and Belleville boots and initially ordered the HAIX too small. Returning them and reordering was no issue. 10.5W fits me, so order at least a size bigger than your BCT boots.

Worth the money

First time opening the box i knew these were going to be good. I put them on tied them up went walking on a little hike and wow i was impressed. They fit very well with lots of room for those who have wide feet like myself. They are princely you know these boots are quality by how they fit on comfortably and feel. Everyone avid outdoors person needs a pair boots like these.

Good boot, but pricey

I got these today…finally…and am wearing them around the house tonight. The only other pair of HAIX boots I have are the GSG-9 boots that I bought a couple of years ago. They have been a good boot; one, in fact, that I wear when I need dressier footwear and boots are all that I have. For a German made boot, your sizing is correct for the US market and I was a surprised when I got the GSG-9 and my US sizing, which I selected when ordering, was correct (I usually have to go by UK sizing for European made footwear). So, based on that experience, I ordered these Hero boots in my US size and they are fitting well, especially in the toe box. For this type of boot, they look and feel like they will work out well. I pretty much gave up on other boots of this type (except the one pair of Meindl's I have, which I don’t currently wear), so the HAIX is a welcome addition. I will be curious to see other reviews when they start coming in as this is a somewhat high priced boot for a combat/tactical boot marketed to the military. Too soon to advise on long term wear, but they are more promising than others I have had (except maybe the Mendls, once I got their sizing correct...the UK thing, you know...).
