I have no idea what caused these boots to be "factory seconds", but they are the most comfortable full-on big boots I've every put on. I've had a lifetime worth of issues ever getting a pair of heavy boots to work for me and glad to finally find something that work. BTW, they are a great hunting boot as well as Wildland fire fighting boot.

Just got these. The fit and feel with little effort for breaking in is why I chose to purchase again. The older version was my favorite soft boot while working on a Helitack crew. I can see the updates that should provide longevity which was my only complaint with the last pair from several years ago. Looks like you can rebuild them too. Great product at the price point much more comfortable than traditional boots in rocky terrain.

Everything is really great except for the fact that after one season, and not much hiking (due to being on a helislack crew), the treads are nonexistent and or worn down very significantly.

These boots will get the job done for about 2/3rds of a season for a big guy like me. The soles faded pretty quick and bubbled in some areas after some felling in some hot areas. I recommend for anyone beside hotshot sawyers. I assume that the 2.1 will be an upgrade and I will stick with this company,

Boots

I am working on a land survey crew, I bought these because I needed a good pair of boots and my dad who is a wildland firefighter swears by these. So far I am just trying to get them broke in. They ended up being a little to big. Normally I wear a 5.5 in mens as I wear a 6.5-7 in women's but 5.5 in these needed up being about a half inch or so to big. I just need to tinker with them and add in some insoles and I think they will work out just fine.

I was hesitant to purchase these since I'd heard about the soles delaminating on the last Missoulas. When I saw the price dip, I figured I'd try it. I've had them for close to 7 months. I broke them in easily and quickly. Didn't get called up for fire, so I still can't comment on the soles delaminating but so far I really like them and haven't had a problem. Very comfortable, not heavy, very supportive.

Great Boot

This is my second paid of Haix boots, but the first pair of 2.0's. Right out of the box they are comfortable, especially when compared to other brands. After a few days they become very comfy. I enjoy the stable base that they provide when working and now the higher ankle support really locks in your feet. Great purchase.

Haix Missoula 2.o

About to start my third season and when I saw Haix had updated their Missoula 1.0 (aka the 2.0s now meet NFPA Standards required by the agency I work for), I had to give them a shot. After 2 weeks of breaking them in I am pleased with this purchase. Aside from the composite toe, these are a solid boot and very comfortable.

Comfortable boot.

Boots were comfortable right out of the box. Wore them on a field fire that got away from a rancher a couple days after receiving them and was happy with my purchase.

Not as good as the Missoula

I had the first Missoula for 4 seasons in California and the boots performed really well. Very durable, light, comfortable and has good traction on mountainous terrain. However, I needed an NFPA 1977 compliant boot and being happy with the Missoula, I wanted the 2.0, no question. Once available I bought the boots and have not been fully satisfied at all. The 2.0 is wider around the toes and I have major heel lift in both boots. This leads to heel rub and discomfort. If I lace them down tighter to stop heel lift the circulation is cut off in my feet. Not the same boot, not the same satisfaction.

I bought these for my son after he graduated from the FF1 academy. He already owned a pair of Missoula 2.0 that he wore during the ranch fire and through the FF1 academy including Cal Fire basic. He says the boots have no break in period and are more like slippers..lol They are the only boots he will wear. As a Retired FF/PM myself I understand how important good boots are. If they had been around before I retired they would have been my choice as well.
