Dual Purpose Boot with NFPA certification
Developed with the wildland firefighter in mind, these boots can take you to the fire line and back with the comfort you need when logging long hours in the station. A dual purpose boot that is NFPA certified for wildland firefighting and EMS, you have the convenience of two boots in one.
Anatomically constructed and built with a lightweight composite toe, HAIX® Airpower XR1 boots give your feet plenty of room to move around while protecting them from toe impact and compression because there is nothing worse than a protective toe that pinches or restricts your movement.
Built in Arch Support
The HAIX® Airpower XR1's built in arch support provides much needed support to the arch, which takes the brunt of the pressure when standing. Proper support of the arch helps to prevent foot pain when on your feet all day and possible foot problems later on.
The newly developed cushioned insole offers the ultimate in comfort, especially when combined with the built in arch support. And with the laced in zipper system, any firefighter can adjust the lacing for a more personal fit while enjoying the benefits of a quick in and out boot. Because on the job, seconds matter.
Waterproof and Sun Reflect technology
The HAIX® Airpower XR1 is both waterproof and breathable with the added benefit of chemical and bloodborne pathogen protection. Working in tandem with the HAIX® climate system, your feet will stay dry, comfortable, and protected –even in times of extreme exposure to water.
The Airpower XR1 offers all of the HAIX® quality you have come to expect for long lasting comfort and durability. The all leather upper material uses Sun Reflect technology which reduces the solar heating effect and keeps feet cool by reflecting the sun’s rays.
Because the soles, heels, and uppers are also heat resistant, it is less likely to lead to boot separation which is a very common case in firefighting situations. Heat resistance keeps the whole boot functional without melting or delaminating.
Slip Resistant Soles and Quick Drying Insoles
The soles of the HAIX® Airpower XR1 are extremely slip resistant which offers an effective grip when exposed to water and oil. So even when you’re on a rescue and you’re running on tile, hardwood, or linoleum flooring, your shoe will be able to grab hold. The insoles are anatomically formed to deliver a perfect fit and are made to provide excellent moisture absorption and as well as quick drying qualities. When your insoles get completely dirty after long days on duty, all you need to do is throw then in the wash, air dry, and they’ll be ready the next day’s work.
Secura Liner® and CROSSTECH® Protected
Secura Liner® guarantees that your boots will never pull out or wrinkle over time. The CROSSTECH® material in the inner liner also ensures that the gear is comfortable and safe against blood and body fluids.

Great boots, just watch out for sizing -- order at least one size DOWN
As the title suggests, these boots are extremely good quality, very comfortable and can take a beating while maintaining structural integrity. Overall excellent product, I've been recommending these to everyone at work. However, the sizing put me through a bit of a hectic loop. I typically wear a size 7 (in all shoes, regardless of type i.e. heels, running shoes, flats etc) and assumed these boots would fit the same. Unfortunately the day I received my size 7 XR1's (yes, I ordered the women's XR1's), I was shocked at how large they were... my toes weren't even close to the toe caps and my heels kept slipping up the back. I've now ordered 4 different pairs, and found that a size 5.5 (in WOMEN'S) was what fit the best. I'm now out around $700, waiting for the returns to be processed from the three pairs of boots I had to ship back (sizes 7, 6.5, 6). This review will hopefully run as a public service announcement; if you order from Haix, make sure you order AT LEAST one size down. Perhaps even order two sets (1 size down, 1.5 sizes down) just to be on the safe side, and just return the pair that don't fit. I had a hell of a time sleuthing through forums to realize that no, my feet did not shrink 1.5 inches overnight, these boots just run big. Even if you order the women's version.
Feedback for Haix, PLEASE start to include Haix boot-sizing images (pdf maybe?) that people can print out at home and measure their feet against so they don't have to go through nearly $1,000 worth of boots to ensure they're ordering the correct size. You guys sell such fantastic boots that there should be tools in place for people to get the most out of what they've ordered the first time around!! Would save your customers lots of time and money.
We're sorry for the issue you experienced with sizing in our Airpower boots. Based on customer feedback, we don't generally find that these boots run as big as you've experienced. However, each customer has their own personal preference on how their shoes fit. We recommend that our customers call our customer service department to troubleshoot fit issues and get sizing recommendations.
Concerning the boot-sizing image... I wish it were that simple. We would love to post an image or pdf to be downloaded and printed by a customer, but we run the risk of their computer/printer scaling the print job and throwing the sizing off. There is also the issue of where someone stands on the paper (heel placement), are they looking straight down at the scale, on thick carpet where the paper crumples... All of these things will throw off the measurement. We are looking for a solution to this, but don't have anything as of yet.
Again, we are sorry if this has caused you issues. Thank you for your patience.
Bruising my leg
This is the second pair of these boots. The first pair was excellent and I wore them out. I'm having a hard time with this second pair. I cannot get the lower portion of the boot tight enough so my foot doesn't slip, resulting in blisters. I cannot get the top portion of the boot loose enough to stop bruising my calf. I hope they break in soon or I will have to buy a different boot - and after spending $300.00 - that's a tough price to pay.
We want you to have the best fit possible with our boots. Please contact our customer service at 866-344-4249 and they will be happy to troubleshoot these issues with you over the phone.
size too large
Every shoe in my closet is a Women's size 8. This boot was too big and had to be returned.
Thank you for everything you do.
I love your company. I own a few pairs of your boots and I must say they are awesome. They are very comfortable to wear and they are very durable too. They always keep my feet dry and protected. They are the best boots on the market and they are now my personal favorite to wear. Thank you for everything you do. I appreciate it.
